Among various means that employers deploy to maintain a healthy and safe working environment, safety posters are the most inexpensive thus effective one. Safety posters bring various benefits: preventing injuries, accidents; instructing employees on what to do, guiding them to tackle critical situations to name a few. Posters also narrow down the consequences if accidents happen; therefore they help to raise business productivity up.

Those benefits have been proven; the state and federal labor law posters mandate that every type of business must put up safety posters if they do not want to be fined heavily. To enhance the employees' awareness on safety posters' effectiveness, it is better if employers combine showcasing posters with holding a safety training program in the workplace. In the safety training program, workers should be equipped with enough information on how to react in emergency situations as well as raise their awareness of potential dangers or hazards.

Without the help of safety posters, employers will have to hold various safety training programs like that. A safety poster is an easy effective way to get the safety messages across. Because of their usefulness, safety posters are used widely and to be able to serve various types of business, posters come in many different types ranging from health and safety posters, workplace safety posters to industrial or road sign safety ones. They are so popular that you can see them posted everywhere you go: in public toilets, on roads, in schools or on construction sites.

So how can an employer promote the effectiveness of safety posters? If you are an employer and you are thinking of choosing the most appropriate posters for your workplace, then I have some tips to share.

The initial criterion when choosing safety posters is choosing the right message. You should make sure that the messages on the posters are simple and direct to the point. No worker will be willing to spend his precious working time just to read a lengthy poster with small prints. The second criterion is about the graphics and pictures. A poster without illustrations will not gain lots of effectiveness as the employers desire. Pictures make the posters more vivid and easy to remember. In some states of U.S, it is required by state labor law poster that employers need to print the posters in both languages: English and Spanish so that every employee can comprehend. In fact, if a poster has got pictures to illustrate, employees who do not understand English can still understand what the posters are about by looking at the illustrations.
