It is a common perception that, after the industrial revolution in the seventeenth century, the Information Technology is the second revolution in the history of mankind which has played a prominent role in changing people’s lifestyle. The inventor of the telephone technology, Alexander Graham Bell may never have thought in his wildest dreams that such a type of technology would be able to evolve in the future. The biggest step in the evolution of telephone technology was from landlines to mobile phones. Mobile phones were first used only for verbal communication but they have since evolved to perform a number of tasks and have become a crucial tool in day to day life. Many touch phones perform the same functions as regular cell phones, but they are also able to perform functions previously only found in personal computers.

In the revolution of mobile technology, Touch Screen Phones can be thought of as the wave of a future generation of phones. Most smartphones are used as a personal digital assistant. These smart phones merge the functionalities and features of the diverse range of gadgets and act as a device of verbal communication, entertainment and an information centre for the user.


Features such as email, internet browsing, watching 3D movies and playing games are very common in smart phones. The availability of MP3 players and GPS technology means that they are found commonly on most smart phones. Instant messaging and online games are two popular features of smart phones. The smart phones of current generations are able to synchronize easily with personal computers. The users of smart phones can easily enjoy the fabulous world of the internet and applications of multimedia all on a mobile handset.

The demand for Touch Phone is increasing rapidly. The current estimated market of smart phones is between fifteen to twenty percent of total mobile handsets sold worldwide. The increasing competition amongst the Mobile Phone manufacturers has resulted in a reduced cost of handsets. The BlackBerry Videos of RIM, iPhone of Apple Computers, Windows Phone and some of the biggest Smartphone brands available on the market. The manufactures are spending lot of money in R&D to reduce production costs, so that they can increase their market share and more people can enjoy the advantages of the newest technology.
