Mobile phones today provide one of the most convenient forms of communications. Before them wireless signals could only deliver messages through horns, smoke, or song as it was a thousand years ago, until only recently. Traditional phones require wires and lines to connect people. Now we have the ability not only to talk over the phone but to also send all kinds of data files at the speed of light from almost anywhere we roam. Smart Phones have created a vessel for the content. They have made life easier as an all in one device. From Phone calls to business reports a revolution in mobile communications.

You would be hard pressed not to be able to list some of the many benefits of mobile phones. Its amazing how much they have changed our lives and the way we live them in such a short period of time. One can remember what is was like before when you had to reach someone or be reached. You had to be near the land line they were calling and hope someone else was not using that one phone lest you miss the call. Today almost everyone in the world rich or poor has access to some kind of cell phone. We now have our own personal numbers that go with us everywhere. This can be lifesaving if you happen to be driving late at night, or you are in danger and you need to call for help. Long gone are the days that you had to make plans with your friends and choose a location and time to meet and hope they would find you. The portability and low costs allow us to conduct business far outside the confines of the office, and chat with family members and friends far away, or make sure our kids are safe. The latest mobile offerings include what are known as smart phones. These take the experience so much further. Not only can they make calls as we mentioned but these are the ones that take advantage of the power of the internet. We can read our emails, take photos, organize a document, write novels, play games, chat over social networks, locate the nearest Italian restaurant, watch videos, listen to music, and so much more. Who knows what they will be able to do in the near future? Maybe they will make us lunch and drive our cars or have a mind of their own? The possibilities seem endless.

Now with all the pros of mobile phone use there are of course some cons. Its great that we are reachable always and we can reach others, but that also means that we are reachable always even if we don't want to be. Some companies require their employees to always be in contact. Bosses or clients may call or send works regardless of the time. Maybe you don't want to talk to your mom or girlfriend or wife? Maybe they don't want to talk to you? Then there are the times you are trying to enjoy a movie and someones phone starts ringing loudly, or you trying to enjoy a nice quite dinner with your loved one and they are busy playing with their phones. Mobile phone networks are also really vulnerable to hackers, or those looking to steal your private information. Not to mention the physical side effects associated with the radiation that the devices emit.

However all in all mobile phones especially the Smartphones models like the RIM BlackBerry or the Apple iPhone have made life easier and more enjoyable, as well as helping us all stay connected in this busy fast paced world we live in.
