There is a very thin line that differentiates Employment and Labor Law. Sometimes both the terms are used interchangeably or even in connection with each other also. Though, Employment Law is the broader term which covers all the areas of relationship between an employee and employer, but excludes the negotiation process between them, which is covered by Labor law. Major topics that Employment Law covers are: Pensions, Collective Bargaining, Employment Discrimination (including Age, Sex or Disability Discrimination), Workplace safety, Unemployment Compensation and also issues like Working hours, Wages and Health Benefits.

Labor Law, on the other hand, is the law that allows a group of employees, which are organized as unions, to negotiate for their rights and benefits, with the employers. All the disputes between employees and employer in such cases are heard by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). Labor Law not only facilitates unionized employees to perform strike or protest (picketing) but also allows employers to do lockouts for defending themselves.

The Department of Labor enforces all the employers to hang or place updated labor law poster and notices in the place which is frequently visited by the employees in the business, to keep employees informed about their rights in various areas like minimum working hours and wages, safety and health benefits, workers compensations, various discriminations and insurances.

With the major change in the federal and state law text, employers are supposed to replace appropriate and updated Federal state labor law poster and labor law posters in workplace. Language of the poster should depend upon the language of the workers in the business in which they are literate. This not only helps employees to be up-to-date about their rights and benefits but also averts employers from various fines. these safety posters can be downloaded and then printed from the respective federal and state sites but purchased posters being more simplified in text, laminated and attractive, gives neat and gorgeous look to the workplace.
