What does OSHA stands for? It stands for Occupational Safety and Health Administration. It is a public law that assures the safety and healthy working environment for both female and male workers. It is an Act that also provides information, education, and training in the occupational field of health and safety. The purpose of this Act is to encourage employers and employees to minimize occupational healthy and safety hazards at their places of work or employment, and motivate employees as well as employers to introduce new and better programs for giving a healthy and safe working environment. This Act also implies that employees and employers have separate and dependent rights and responsibilities in achieving a healthy and safety working environment through federal labor law posters.

Employers and employees have independent duties on this Act. Each employer shall furnish his employees and place of employment which are free from any types of hazards that may cause death or serious physical injury on the employees. And each employee shall comply with safety and health occupational standards and rules, orders, and regulations issued on this Act which are applicable to his own conduct and actions.


By doing so, an employer or business owner should post an OSHA Safety Posters that is prepared by the department of labor. This poster is similar to a labor law poster which is also a labor Act poster that must be displayed and posted in conspicuous places in order for all employees as well as employers to see them always. Examples of these places are workings areas, near drinking fountains, snack areas, and other areas that can be seen by all.

There are several citations of this poster for both employees and employers. For employers it states that employers should furnish their employees a place of employment free from any types of recognized hazards, and that they must comply with the occupational healthy and safety standards issued under the OSH Act.

Some citations for employees are as follows. Employees have the right to notify their employers or OSHA about workplace hazards, confidentiality of their name can also be requested from OSHA. Employees also have the right to request for an OSHA inspection if they believe that there are unsafe and unhealthy conditions in their workplaces. Employers can also file a complaint to OSHA within 30 days if there is discrimination by the employer on the employee for making a safety and health complaints under the OSH Act.
